Theresa C. Wan, CFP®, CFA founded Treesa Financial Planning to provide hourly, as-needed financial advice to individuals and families in the North Jersey and New York City area, regardless of their income or net worth.

Having grown up in a middle class family, Theresa saw how hard her parents worked at providing for their children. She also recognized that they did not have the financial experience or education to properly plan for their own retirement, insurance needs, and long term investments. At a young age, Theresa perceived the need for high-quality financial advice to be made accessible to all people, including families like her own who did not have significant assets but could still have benefited from working with a financial coach to guide them in planning for their future. However, when she learned that most advisors either have minimum investment requirements or are paid a commission for selling products to clients, she envisioned having her own firm one day to help clients from all walks of life by providing truly objective advice. Her vision became a reality when she founded Treesa Financial Planning.

Prior to starting the firm, Theresa built a solid foundation in wealth management during her four plus years of experience at Altfest Personal Wealth Management. As a Senior Financial Advisor, Theresa was the lead advisor for more than 50 clients with approximately $90 million of assets under management and advised on their investment portfolios as well as various financial topics such as asset allocation, college education planning, mortgage and refinancing, stock options, Roth IRA conversions, tax planning, retirement planning, life and long term care insurance and annuities. 

A CFP® professional and CFA® charterholder, Theresa also holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School. Upon graduation, Theresa worked as an investment banker specializing in mergers and acquisitions at Berkshire Capital Securities, LLC in New York City.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Theresa spent most of her life in northern New Jersey. She currently lives in Bergen County with her husband Jackson and two children. In her spare time, Theresa enjoys event planning, hanging out in coffee shops, nature and sharing new dining experiences with Jackson. Her family are members of East Bergen Christian Church in Teaneck, NJ.
